About the Company
LIBRAQ is the International Book Fair of Barranquilla, Colombia, celebrating literature, culture, and art on an international scale.
Challenges & Goals
In 2019, for its second edition, LIBRAQ launched a contest titled “A Thousand Books, A Thousand Voices,” inviting both national and international illustrators to showcase their talent. Competitors were asked to create two unique illustrations that captured the essence of the theme, inspiring creativity and diverse perspectives.
Solution
Two illustrations were developed to embody the contest’s central theme of stories and words flowing from within books.
One illustration, called "El Jardín de las Palabras" or "Garden of Words", embraced a fantasy tone, emphasizing the enchanting, imaginative world that books offer. The concept explored is the blossoming of words with each opened book, as every book reveals a universe of stories waiting to unfold.
The second, "El Alma de los Libros" or "The Soul of Books", focused on characters, bringing a human element to the theme and highlighting the impact of storytelling on individuals. It portrays the enchanting spectacle of fairy tale characters springing to life in a fantastical world bathed in moonlight. Together, the illustrations capture the spirit of LIBRAQ’s mission to celebrate the transformative power of books.
